Same Day Crowns
Here at Austin Family Dentistry, in many cases, rather than using an offsite laboratory and laboratory technician to make your porcelain crown, the doctor will design it for you herself in our office.
We use our advanced digital equipment, including digital iTero scans rather than goopy impressions of the past and our state-of-the-art glidewell.io milling unit, to fabricate your porcelain crown so that it’s exactly as the doctor wants it — and you receive it much, much sooner. Sometimes even the same day!
A crown is a restoration used to strengthen a tooth or improve or restore its shape. Crowns are most often used for teeth that are broken, cracked, worn, or partially destroyed by tooth decay.
They are necessary when there is insufficient tooth strength for just a filling to support it. Crowns can be made of porcelain, metal, or both. Porcelain crowns are most often preferred because they mimic the translucency of natural teeth and are very strong.
Unlike fillings, which apply the restorative material directly into your mouth, a crown is fabricated away from your mouth. The crown is bonded onto your existing tooth and fully covers the portion of your tooth above the gum line. In effect, the crown now becomes your tooth’s new strong, supportive, outer surface.
Porcelain Veneers
You no longer need to hide your smile because of gaps, chips, stains, or misshapen teeth. With veneers, you can easily correct your teeth’s imperfections to help you have a more confident, beautiful smile. Veneers are natural in appearance and a perfect option for patients who want to reinvent the look and feel of their smile.
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made of tooth-colored materials (such as porcelain) and designed to cover the front side of your teeth. To prepare for veneers, our team will create a unique model of your teeth.
This model is sent to a dental technician who creates your veneers. Before placing your new veneer, Dr. Diemer or Dr. Tiller may need to prepare your tooth conservatively to achieve the desired aesthetic result.
When your veneers are placed, you’ll be pleased to see that they look like your natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are stain-resistant and retain their beautiful color from day one.
If you choose to place resin veneers, we may recommend you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco to maintain the beauty of your new smile.
